HumanKind

A new humanitarian project in the Derry/Londonderry and Strabane area.

HumanKind is a new cross-community project being launched by the British Red Cross in 2025.

If you are interested in learning more about humanitarian action, making new friends, developing new skills and making an impact in your community then HumanKind is for you.

If you live in the Derry/Londonderry and Strabane area, we would love for you to get involved.

Everyone is welcome and we are particularly interested in working with younger members of the community aged 15-25 years old.

What’s involved?

Humanitarian Actor Course

This is a 5-week course working in groups to learn about humanitarian action, community needs and resilience, emergency first aid, mental health and wellbeing, local volunteering and much more.

Your group will have the opportunity to shape your learning as you progress, you will learn practical skills like first aid, gain certificated awards and you will have the chance to put your skills into action in your community.

Volunteering Action Days

We want to mobilise the power of volunteering to make a big impact through voluntary action days, this will give you the opportunity to step outside of your comfort zone and try out of a range of different activities while being part of positive change.

Cultural and Community Activities

We will be organising trips to places where groups will be able to try new things and learn something new, such as a Belfast tour where you can learn all about the history of the Peace Walls.

If you want to get involved, learn more or support this programme as a volunteer, drop an email to maudtinsley@redcross.org.uk

How much does it cost?

Joining HumanKind is completely free. All that we are looking for from you is for your time.

When is it?

Courses will be taking place at different times throughout 2025 and 2026 with dates to be announced soon.

If you send us an email we will let you know when they come out.
