Why visit Fallodon Hall gardens?

Visit part of Northumberland’s history.

Extensive, well established garden with a hot greenhouse beside the bog garden.  The late 17th-century kitchen garden walls surround a cutting and vegetable border and a fruit greenhouse. The walls of the kitchen garden contain a fireplace, with flies built to heat the fruit trees of the Salkeld family, renowned for their gardening expertise at the time.

Natasha McEwen replanted the sunken garden (from 1896) and the redesigned 30m border was replanted in 2019.  This garden features woodlands, and pond and arboretum with over 10 acres to explore.

There is also the grave of Sir Edward Grey, Foreign Secretary at the outbreak of WW1, famous ornithologist and fly fisherman, in the woods near the pond.

Downtown Abbey was filmed at the gardens during the final Christmas series.
