Supporting Connections: loneliness training
Join our free workshop to learn how to help people dealing with loneliness.
What is the Supporting Connections workshop?
This two-hour workshop teaches you how to support people who feel lonely and help them build positive connections to improve their wellbeing.
Individual bookings:
> Book to join an online group workshop as an individual
Group bookings (5-20 learners):
For eligible groups and organisations. Minimum 5 participants.

Who is the workshop for?
If you're in a role supporting others in the community, this workshop can equip you with the tools and confidence to help people deal with their loneliness.
You might be a:
- community support worker
- community leader
- carer
- befriender volunteer
- youth worker
- coach
- teacher.
You can join this free community training if you’re at least 19 and based in the UK.
This workshop is not intended for people affected by loneliness. If you need mental health support or access to wellbeing services please call the Samaritans: 116 123.
What you'll learn
During this interactive workshop, you’ll:
- learn how to spot the signs of loneliness
- identify the barriers and benefits to forming connections
- explore ways to help people deal with loneliness
- build your confidence to help others manage loneliness
- share your learnings to help improve connections in your community.
How are the workshops delivered?
Workshops are delivered online or in-person depending on your location and personal circumstance.
Online workshops:
- for individuals or groups
- take place on Microsoft Teams
- require a microphone
- can be accessed using a smart phone, tablet or computer.
In-person workshops:
- only available to groups (5-20 learners)
- delivered by one of our educators at an agreed location
- require space for the group to work in a comfortable and safe manner
- not everyone is eligible for an in-person workshop. Find out about eligibility.

Will I get a qualification?
While there is no formal qualification for taking part, we can provide a certificate of learning you can fill in yourself or on behalf of others. This workshop does not fulfil any workplace requirements.
