Accessibility

Find out how we are improving this website for everyone who uses it.

Our aim is to make our website as easy to use as possible, for everyone.

That means making it accessible to all users, regardless of technology or ability.

How accessible this website is

We aim to be ‘AA compliant’ according to WCAG guidelines and to comply to AAA standards where possible.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

To improve accessibility we aim to:

  • include appropriate headings and subheadings to aid screen-reader navigation
  • make sure content is accessible by keyboard only and that tab ordering is logical
  • make all text easy to understand
  • make the text of links meaningful so that their destination is clear
  • provide a sitemap to assist with navigation
  • provide subtitles and transcripts to all video content
  • give images appropriate alternative text so that the information they contain is conveyed to those who cannot see them
  • make downloads accessible, including creating new PDFs with accessibility in mind
  • ensure sufficient colour contrast across the site to make elements easier to see.

If you have any feedback to share, encounter any issues while using our website, or would like to request any of our content in a different format, please contact digitalsupport@redcross.org.uk.
