All you need to know about buying and using a British Red Cross charity shop gift card.

What is a charity shop gift card?

A charity shop gift card is an exclusive gift card from British Red Cross that can be loaded with a select amount of money to be used to purchase pre-loved items in our charity shops. 

Where can I buy a charity shop gift card?

You can buy an eGift card on Amazon. We'll email the eGift card directly to your recipient.

Or, if you'd prefer to buy a physical gift card, you can get these in any of our UK shops and in selected Tesco stores.

Where can I spend my charity gift card?

You can redeem your gift card in any of our UK shops.

Can I spend my charity shop gift card online?

No, the card is only redeemable in our physical shops. We plan to make the cards redeemable on our online shop in the future.

What can I buy with my charity gift card?

You can use your card to pay for any item sold in our shops, just like you would if you were paying by card.

Can I use my card balance to make a donation to the British Red Cross?

Absolutely. Just take your card to the till in any of our shops and let a staff member know that you would like to make a donation.

How can I check my card balance?

You can check the balance of your charity shop gift card in any of our UK shops. Just go to the till and ask a member of staff to check your balance. You don’t need to make a purchase to do this.

The card balance will also be printed on your receipt if you used the gift card as a form of payment.

Can I use my charity gift card and another form of payment at the same time?

You can use your card for the part payment of goods, and use another payment method used to pay the remaining amount, i.e. cash or card.

Can I return items I paid for with my gift card?

Our standard refund policy of 28 days with receipt applies to all purchases made in our shops, including items paid for by your charity gift card. The refund amount will be loaded onto your gift card.

How long do I have to use my charity shop gift card?

Your gift card will be valid for 24 months from the date it was issued, after that time, any unused balance on the card will be forfeited as a donation to the British Red Cross.

What happens if I lose my card?

Unfortunately, we’re not able to replace lost or stolen card, or offer cash or credit for any balance that was on the card.

What is the maximum and minimum amount I can load onto a card?

The maximum is £100 and minimum is £5. If you wish to load more than £100 onto a card, we recommend purchasing multiple cards.

Can I top-up my charity shop gift card after I’ve used my balance?

No, the cards can’t be re-loaded. If you wish to do this, we recommend buying a new card.

What happens if I don’t use my balance all in one go?

You don’t need to use all your balance in one transaction, the balance will stay on your card until you use it again or the card expires.
