British overseas territories
Our overseas branches
The British Red Cross has nine overseas branches. As they are all in British overseas territories, they form part of the British Red Cross.
Their work covers a wide range of Red Cross activities depending on local needs. For instance, many branches offer disaster management, community health support and first aid. As in all Red Cross branches, volunteers are the mainstay of their work.
Our Caribbean overseas branches include Anguilla, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Montserrat and the Turks and Caicos Islands.
In 2017, two Category 5 hurricanes devastated the Caribbean, including three islands where we have overseas branches. The Red Cross gave cash grants to people who had lost their homes and livelihoods to help them rebuild after the disasters. This was generously supported by the UK government’s Department for International Development (DFID).
We also have branches in the Falkland Islands, Gibraltar and St Helena.
